FAQ

Frequently asked

Here we answer your questions about the ski course on the Turracherhöhe.

  • Where is the ski school office?
Here you will find an exact location description and a Google Maps link
  • Does it make sense to book online?
Definitely! In this way we can estimate much better how many participants are in the ski course on the respective day and thus also better classify the ski instructors. On top of that, there are early booking discounts if you book online.
  • Is it useful to book private lessons online?
To be able to guarantee the desired days or times, you can also book private lessons online!
  • Do I have to go to the ski school office at all?
Not really, since not many people can be in our tiny office at the same time anyway (COVID regulation), save yourself the queue and book online. You can still buy your ticket online on the day the course begins. The head of the ski school or a supervisor is always on site at the meeting point to clarify open questions.
  • Which languages do our ski instructors speak?
Every ski instructor speaks German and English. In addition, some ski instructors speak Italian, French, Spanish and Dutch, especially in high season.
  • Where are the courses held?
Our SNOWSTARS Kornock area is in the immediate vicinity of the Kornock valley station, where the beginner courses take place. Advanced groups can be found throughout the ski area and often on the fun slope.
  • Is there a ski bus?
In addition to the Turracherhöhe ski bus, there is a free SNOWSTARS shuttle for ski course participants + one accompanying person. We will pick you up at the hotel in the morning and if necessary we will also bring you back. Registration the day before by 6 p.m. at the latest
  • Am I insured in the ski school?
No! Please arrange your own insurance.
  • At what age does it make sense to learn to ski?
There is no general answer to this and it depends on the physical requirements of the little ones. The minimum age for a full-day ski course is 4 years. The groups are divided according to driving ability. In the RISING STARS groups, 2-3 year olds can be slowly introduced to the topic of skiing, but they certainly need a lot more breaks in between.
  • How many children are in a group?
We only offer ski lessons in small groups. The upper limit is eight children. In the private courses, children are taught individually or in small, self-selected groups.
  • How are the groups divided?
When registering, there is already an allocation for the skill level. A more precise group division then takes place during the first descents.
  • Do children need a lift ticket?
Beginners and slightly advanced children who ski in the SNOWSTARS Kornock area do not need a lift ticket. As soon as the children start skiing in the ski area, you need a lift ticket. The ski instructor will inform you in good time. All advanced children from the age of 6 who travel with the group in the ski area need a lift ticket for the Turracherhöhe mountain railways. The use of the lift is free for children under the age of six.
  • Is the lift ticket included in the price of the course?
No. If a lift ticket is required (for children from 6 years of age who ski in the ski area), the lift ticket can be bought online or at the lift stations of the Bergbahnen Turracherhöhe.
  • Is the rental equipment included in the price of the course?
The rental equipment is not included in the price.
  • Is lunch included in the course price?
No, lunch is not included in the course price. During the lunch break, the ski instructors take the JUNIOR STARS and TEEN STARS children to lunch and look after the children during this time. The SNOWSTARS lunch menu costs €12 per child in our partner restaurants and huts.
  • Can parents watch the lesson?
Yes, of course. We recommend that parents watch their children from an appropriate distance so that the lessons are not disturbed as much as possible.
  • Are there also courses for adults?
In order to guarantee optimal learning success, we only offer beginners' courses for adults. These always start on Mondays. For advanced skiers, we recommend private lessons. Here we can work specifically and effectively on your personal learning progress and achieve great success in a short time
  • Are there also family courses?
You are welcome to book a ski instructor for the whole family. Private lessons for families are a first-class service from the SNOWSTARS ski school, ask for a family discount.
  • Why private lessons?
In private ski courses, the ski instructors can respond individually to you, your skiing ability and your needs, so optimal learning success is guaranteed in a short time.
  • What does off-piste even mean?
All off-piste activities are summarized in our off-piste program. Off-piste skiing, also known as freeriding, is off-piste skiing in different types of snow and always with lift support. Ski tours are done with special skis and boots. To climb, you stick skins to the underside of the skis and open the buttocks of the binding for a relaxed climb off-piste.
